The Low Down on the Wellie Race up the Alps this coming Sunday 15th of February

The following is a report and details on the third Wellie Race up the Alps on Sunday 15th of February.

The report was sent to Chubby Brennen, the CEO and big boss at the Wellie Racing World Headquarters, in Castlecomer Co. Kilkenny.

Dear Chubby,

No doubt you are all gloating there in Castlecomer after yet another successful wellie race on 1st of January.    Really I´d love to say something witty or what, but I can´t.  All I can say well done well done to you all. - I know  it takes a lot of hard work to make such easy fun happen!https://www.facebook.com/pages/Castlecomer-Wellie-Race/290688064376552

So here I am anyway, to give ye the low down on wellie race planning up in the Swiss Alps:

In spite of us sticking to the training regime as recommended on the Castlecomer Wellie Race site by you wellie racing experts, to be honest none of us are feeling the best.  Guido, the dairy farmer from Moos where the race will be held, suggests we should do twice as much of everything you recommend; maybe we need that for the higher altitudes or something.  We will give that a shot.

So, like last year, we are going be romantic in our willies because the  third:

Great Alpine Valentine Wellie Race takes place.

When:  Sunday 15th of February, 2014.

Where: The Kretz Dairy Farm,

              Moos, 9116 Wolfertswil,

             St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Time:  `      About mid-day ish`, or a bit sooner.

While the start time is ´a bit´open.  The end time is certain: 4:30 p.m.
before the milking starts!

The race will be followed by
a Céilí, an Irish Dance - in the Wellies of course.

For any questions:  Facebook  at Hausfrau Róisín.

Fierce Important:  Members of the céilí dancing Broggy family, world renowned (in some places), will be on hand to teach all those foreigners the finer points of dancing the Walls of Limerick etc.

Grilled genuine German sausages from Switzerland and hot soup can be purchased to
restore stamina after the big run.

If any one reading this knows anyone within driving distance of St. Gallen
who would love to run up the Alps in their wellies for Valentine´s  can
contact me on Facebook at Hausfrau Róisín if they have any questions.

All for now.  I am out now for the first 50 push ups in the wellies...

If we successfully  manage to smuggle in a few bags a´ Taytos from Ireland; there will be a bag a ´ Taytos for all our winners!  With that HOW CAN YOU NOT want to run the Alps in your Wellies, I ask,  if you might get a bag ´a Taytos for it!

  1. A comment from Dave in Canada-

So, I have a new colleague named Maurice - he is our production software
test engineer - arrived to Canada some 4 years ago with his wife from
Ireland. Anyway, what should he bring to work this week claiming it to be a national food of Ireland, but a bag of Taytos!

Of course I know all about Taytos and I was immediately transported back to dairy farm in the shadow of Säntis almost exactly a year ago: great food, new friends, great hospitality, Irish (broom) dancing, and Wellie racing! What fun. Thanks again for that and for introducing us to Taytos, and to Wellie Racing.

  2. Dear Ms. Housefrow, your missive received and contents duly noted....I checked my closet for Wellies and, by golly, they were there, clean and green and made of the finest rubber by Portuguese craftsmen.....however, they were purchased at Dowling's fine store in Castlecomer. I tramped through the deep snee here in honor of Saint Gallen and that great Irishman, the Duke of Wellington.
I further note that Broggys would tread the Walls of Limerick.....all in defiance of the guns of General Ginkel. Beware, King John! I assume that any English in attendance were treated civilly and not overcharged too greatly.
Also, I would consider of "fierce importance" the soup and sausages: bauernwurst und regenswurst are two of my favorites along with ochsenscwantzezuppe, hot and thick..........

    Mr. Brennen

  3. From Paulus - the official Wellie Race poet Laureate:

    Wellies could be bellies

If filled with whiskey and gin

But that might make St. Gallen

    And occasion of sin!
    Gesundheit!
